FIRE, FIRE - a menace and possible solutions

Fire can easily double as a useful servant or in some scenarios as a fiery master. The spate of fire outbreaks in Ghana for the month of January this year 2015 has beenquite alarming and quantum of destruction with regards to life and property is huge but avoidable in most cases.

With the recent fire outbreaks of the Central Medical Store (CMS) in Tema and Medical Store of Tamale Teaching Hospital which led to huge losses estimated to run into millions of Ghana Cedisit is imperative that we have a lot more to do in terms of prevention and mitigating losses when they occur.

The Ghana National Fire and Rescue Service (GNFRS) an agency under the Ministry of Interior is tasked with numerous functions of which the basic one most are aware of includes offering rescue and evacuation services to those trapped by fire or in other emergency situations. The GNFRS has and would always be an indispensible agency in our history when it comes to fire outbreaks. However, it is clear that challenges impede their smooth operation.

Having been a first-hand witness to a recent fire outbreak on the 20th January 2015 that occurred on my neighbours premises, I would be in the best position to rate the efficiency and procedures adopted by the fire fighters called in controlling the fire on the said day.

A few things I registered as challenging during the fire outage process included the lack of mobile/affixed water pump, smoke masks, flash lights, coordination and efficient communication between fire fighters. The fire outbreak was caused as a result of a lit candle which was placed on a fridge after lights went out (dumsor). This led to thick smoke emanating from the source of the fire and this virtually spread to other rooms. Upon arrival of the fire service personnel’s, the first noticeable challengeswere the absence of flash lights and smoke masks needed to immediately aid the fire fighters to commence action. Flash lights were later made available by some observers who have gathered to witness the showdown.

After the hoses were connected and water made to run through from the water tender, another challenge noticed were holes and cuts in the hoses which leaked most of the water intended to reach the other end of the nozzle to quench the fire. The big issue came when the water run out in a matter of minutes and there was not an immediate back up water tender anywhere near the emergency area. Fortunately, we had a reservoir full of water in our homebut the fire fighters made me understand there was no pump to even aid drawing the water from the reservoir into the emergency area. This was marred with coordination and communication lapses observed between the fire fighters.

The agency per this observation is not well equipped to fight fire on a large scale when the need arises. This might not necessarily be a national representation of the situation on ground however lessons and correction could be deduced from this.

It is quite obvious that our current power outage problem might extend its visit longer than expected and thus every concerned citizen would have to activate the fire outbreak prevention mode or/and in addition insurance against the hazard of fire. Some prevention tips include not refueling generators when its running, not leaving lighted candles on combustible surfaces, appliances turned off after an outage to prevent surge leading to fire when lights are turned back on, cylinders kept away from fire area amongst many others. Insurance of commercial properties which is mandatory under the insurance act 724, 2006 section 184. Subsection (1) one states that “every commercial building shall be insured with an insurer against the hazards of collapse, fire, earthquake, storm and flood, and an insurance policy issued for it.” Many might not appreciate the intended purpose of this act but subsection (2) two explains it further and it states that “insurance policy shall cover the legal liabilities of an owner or occupier of premises in respect of loss of or damage to property, bodily injury or death suffered by any user of the premises and third parties.”

As a risk officer, my humble appeal would be to advise residential property owners to also insure against hazards of fire. As the popular saying goes, nobody on his/her own knows tomorrow. These Fire insurance policies are offered by insurers who cover for any resultant legal liabilities in respect of loss of or damage to property as a result of fire.

Money and food can be used as a test of ones character, in the same vein, events can be used to tests thestrength/weaknesses of services which are legally tasked to respond to them. It is my hope that the Interior Ministry help to fully equip where necessary the GNFRS with the needed tools/kits to fight fire efficiently and also for citizens to consider preventive fire measures and/or fire insurance policies available for adequate protection in the event they occur.

PRACTICAL EXAMPLES...

In life, we make a lot of utterances; men, women, boys , girls, oldies and the rest.

1, Are you aware that, when you miss a meal from your normal  three square meal, you wouldn't die???

2, Are you also aware that, when u hiccup, you miss a breath and u dont fall down dead???

3, Are you also aware that, when you hold your breath for just some few seconds, you wont also fall down dead???

Now, this message is for people for might have been really discouraged, looking down on themselves, thinking God doesnt love them, thinking God cannot use them any longer for a major miracle or purpose. I am here telling you that, GOD LOVES YOU IRRESPECTIVE OF YOUR PRESENT STATE. With men, you have to work for their love, but with God, he comes in first to express His love to you without any prove of work.

This is  what i want to drive at....your present mistakes, errors, minor and major sins might be a factor in hindering your trust, faith and ability in God.

Just like the three scenarios stated above, when any one misses his or her meal for a very long considerable time, he might die. When a person holds his breath unecessarily for an undue period of time, he might die. IN THE SAME WAY, WHEN U REMAIN IN THAT SAME STATE OF FEAR, DISCOURAGEMENT, MISTAKES, SIN, AND FAITHLESSNESS, YOU COULD DIE.

Mind you, a minute of unbelief could breed fear and could lead to a major disaster in life. A period of hatred could lead to instability in your physical and spiritual system and thus, harming urself and ur relationship with God.

It is Gods wish for you to know that, those things dont have to linger too long with you. JESUS paid the price....the full price for all your shortcomings.

Have faith in God. Whenever u fall down , JUST ARISE, SHAKE UP THE DUST AND MOVE ON. ...NEVER REMAIN IN THE STATE OF FALLING DOWN AND NEVER RISING UP COS IT MIGHT BE TOO COSTLY.

stay blessed.

HOW TO MAKE WEALTH AND LIVE IN PROSPERITY .....2

HELLO THERE..
this morning was a great one for me because of the fact that, the financial system of God was again brought to light. i realised that the grace of God had made all things available for man but it takes some things to access that kind of grace....

readers, at this juncture, we would have to make references to the wonderful book, the bible..

this is just the first step for making real the title of this message  "HOW TO MAKE WEALTH AND LIVE IN PROSPERITY""....the bible lets us understand that we can access this grace by FAITH....nothing else.
of course we have kinds of faith...the man kind of faith and the God kind of faith. I am talking of the latter.

Anyway, the first verse of scripture is in romans 5:2....this clearly makes us understand that the access to the grace provided by Jesus Christ is by Faith. Dont be confused here at all.....the last scripture for the day is in John 1:17...which states that, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ...

Didi u get the connection??? Leave a comment and we would continue this series in the next part

God bless you

HOW TO MAKE WEALTH AND LIVE IN PROSPERITY .....1

It is a wonder sometimes to find out that, people struggle unecessarily to make wealth and live in constant prosperity. Today being the last day of the month of january 2011, i discovered these wonderful things from the book of success which i have and which i believe you also have. i have seen them before though, but it just dawned on me soo hard.

i would start by giving you the the main areas you can check out from the book and then you can leave your comment after.

Imagine this, when your earthly father owns a lot of estates, you as a son automatically becomes an heir. You are entitled to the riches of your father. no two ways about that.

Now, lets increase the tempo a bit by checking these few verses..kindly read each verse and let it make meaning to you, muse over it and tell me your thoughts concerning them.

Psalm 24:1
Haggai 2:8
Psalm 50:10-11
Gal 6:9

BEING BORN AGAIN

EVEN IF U DONT LIKE THE TOPIC, IT WILL STILL REMAIN...DOES THE NAME RING A BELL??IS IT A CHRISTIAN TERMINOLOGY??WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF IT??

THE WORD IN ITSELF NEVER MEANS TO BE REINCARNATED AS SOME MIGHT SUGGEST. THE IMPORT OF THE WORD IS MORE OF SPIRITUAL THAN PHYSICAL. I MADE A SEARCH THROUGH THE KING JAMES BIBLE AND FOUND ONLY THREE.. THE WORD BORN AGAIN APPEARED ONLY THRICE IN THE BIBLE....DOES THAT REDUCE ITS IMPORTANCE??? I DONT THINK SO AT ALL..THE FIRST THING TO DO IS TO GRASP THE UNDERSTANDING OF BEING BORN AGAIN.

TO BE BORN AGAIN IS TO EXPERIENCE THE SECOND BIRTH. WE WERE ALL GIVEN BIRTH TO, AT A POINT IN TIME. THAT CAN BE REFERRED TO AS THE FIRST BIRTH, THAT IS, TO BE BORN OF MAN.
ANY OTHER KIND OF "BIRTH" WOULD NEVER EVER BE TERMED AS THE FIRST BIRTH, BUT THE SECOND BIRTH. TO GET THIS CLEARER, LETS MAKE REFERENCE TO THE BIBLE FROM THE BOOK OF JOHN 3:1-21

FROM THE ABOVE SCRIPTURE (which contains the discussion of this topic between Jesus and Nicodamous), YOU WOULD REALISE THAT, TO BE BORN AGAIN MEANT TO BE BORN OF THE SPIRIT.

WHAT SPIRIT??? GODS SPIRIT..
in verse 5= Jesus was stressing on the importance of being born again
in verse 6= Jesus talked about the natural birth(which we all experienced) and the spiritual birth(being born again)
in verse 7= Jesus stressed on the advantages on being born again

what is your view??

TESTIMONIES part 1

Miracles are soo real, I think those who don’t believe it either have not experienced one yet or have failed to recognize that what happened was a miracle. Let me heighten your faith in the things of God for today.
We had a major upcoming event at church and as u know, passions are always high during these events. As a promoter of such an event, it is expected of me by divine constitution that I fully participate. This was the case where I had to get people there to the event ground and all these needed cash. My monthly pay alone did not suffice me in my day to day dealings (I don’t actually rely on it as my source).Brothers and sisters, your giving towards the advancement of the kingdom is very essential and when the book of remembrance is opened, u would surely be favoured. As the testimony goes, I received money from a total stranger outside the country through western union. Now I can tell you that, the people I had to commute to the programme venue became a thing of the past. God has already favoured all His sons and daughters but it takes your commitment through giving to arrest that favour for your personal consumption.Watch out for more personal testimonies and u can also share yours with me as we glorify God.
Stay Blessed
